The University of Birmingham Dubai is launching a prestigious new award for budding innovators – giving its business students the opportunity to win up to £10,000 of start-up capital for future investments.
The Global Innovators Award will be open to every business student at the University’s iconic new Dubai campus and offers participants the chance to be mentored by established Birmingham alumni in the world of business.
Students will compete for a first prize of £10,000 GBP/50,000 AED,with a second prize of £7,000 GBP/35,000 AED and a third prize of £5,000 GBP/25,000 AED available to the runners-up – subject to exchange rate fluctuations.
the award’s inaugural year focusses on the theme of ‘Creating a Sustainable Future’. Subcategories of the award will also focus on the key areas of sustainability, strategic opportunity and international mobility.
The award is set to launch in September 2021, in line with the opening of the University of Birmingham Dubai’s iconic new intelligent campus – complete with cutting-edge technology and offering a world-class student experience.

Students taking part in the competition will submit a business proposal and written business plan to a panel of academics, industry professionals and alumni. The panel will then reach a decision on the winners of the award.
