Swiss International Scientific School Dubai (SISD) is making its debut participation in the prestigious World School Games, taking place across multiple Dubai venues from January 23 to 25, 2025. This marks a significant milestone for the school, as students prepare to showcase their athletic abilities and embody SISD’s commitment to holistic development.
SISD will field teams in both the U15 and U11 categories, with 14 boys and 14 girls in each group set to compete against schools from around the world. Over three days, the students will participate in swimming at the Hamdan Sports Complex, athletics at Dubai Police Officers Stadium, and football at ISD Sports City, reflecting the school’s dedication to nurturing well-rounded individuals.
Alysha Clements, Head of Secondary Physical Education and Sport at SISD, said, “We are thrilled for our students to participate in the World School Games for the first time in school history. This competition will be an incredible opportunity for them to demonstrate their athletic talents while fostering values like teamwork, resilience, and sportsmanship—key pillars of our philosophy at SISD.”
This participation aligns with SISD’s broader vision of promoting both academic and extracurricular excellence. In addition to offering rigorous International Baccalaureate programmes, SISD recently introduced the region’s first BTEC pathway in Sport, Business, and Management, giving students a career-focused education with state-of-the-art sports facilities.
Nikki Asghar, Head of Primary Physical Education and Sport “Our students’ participation in the World School Games will reinforce the importance of integrating physical development with academic success.” “We are excited to see them embrace this challenge and aim for excellence both on and off the field,” added Clements.
The event will also highlight Dubai’s role as a global hub for sports competitions, inspiring SISD students to pursue their sporting ambitions. The event attracts schools from diverse countries, fostering a spirit of global camaraderie and competition. In previous editions, students from nations such as United Kingdom, Russia, Greece, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Kazakhstan and the United Arab Emirates have showcased their talents on this international stage.
The World School Games not only provide a platform for athletic excellence but also promote cultural exchange and the development of lifelong friendships among participants.
