GEMS Education has launched its annual GEMS Awareness events to inspire and guide its existing team and more than 800 new teachers from around the world with the latest best educational practices driven by technology.
The GEMS Awareness Day, held yesterday, kicked off the annual event that introduces new teaching staff to every aspect of the organisation and its partners and services. It is being held virtually for the first time this year for staff preparing for the new academic year, which starts on August 30.
GEMS Awareness events are an invaluable platform for inspirational information exchange, and a unique opportunity for the organisation’s senior leadership team and educators to share their expertise and experience across all subjects and curricula.
GEMS Education Founder and Chairman Sunny Varkey said: “I am delighted to welcome newcomers to the UAE, a country with an inspired leadership that has taken great measures to keep all its people as safe as possible during these challenging times for the entire world.

He later stressed that innovation would continue to play a key role in GEMS’ vision for the future to ensure an outstanding education for all students in its care. “Technology is the future of our company and coupled with the educators in our group and the right EdTech strategy, we are in a good place to move forward as one of the biggest players in the world in the EdTech space,” he told the virtual audience.
New teachers were also addressed by other senior executives including GEMS Education’s Group CEO, Dino Varkey; Global Chief Education Officer, Sir Christopher Stone, and Deputy Chief Education Officer, Jodh Singh Dhesi.

The GEMS Awareness events continue this week and next with presentations, workshops and thematic insights into the mission of GEMS Education. These sessions will cover values-led education, inclusion, parent-teacher communication and virtual learning tips.
Among the speakers are well known local culturalist, Nasif Kayed, with a session on Arab culture, and Emily Ellington, Head of Inclusion at GEMS Education, on the procedures and processes around inclusion issues faced in UAE schools.
TELLAL Institute – the first licensed dedicated teacher training institute in the UAE – will also hold a virtual seminar next week on how to manage parent-teacher communication.
TELLAL will conclude the GEMS Awareness sessions next week with their ‘Virtual learning Tips’, reflecting a new normal for millions of children around the world. This will provide insights on how GEMS Education maintains its leadership in EdTech and how to manage any forthcoming remote learning programmes and lessons.
New teachers joining GEMS Education bring with them a wealth of experience and expertise from around the world, spanning all subjects and curricula. The virtual event enables new teachers of GEMS Education to hear from students, principals and GEMS Education senior leaders while greeting new colleagues and making long-lasting friendships.
