Future Doctor Secures 12 University Offers With Over $883,000 In Scholarships

Staff and pupils at Swiss International School Dubai (SISD) are celebrating a remarkable achievement by Grade 12 student Chloe Juhel, who has been offered places at 12 universities to pursue degrees within themedical field. With scholarships totalling over $883,000, Chloe’s success is a testament to SISD’s commitment to academic excellence and holistic student development.

Chloe, a dedicated aspiring doctor, joined SISD in Grade 5 and has flourished under its supportive and enriching environment for the past eight years. As an International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme bilingual French student, Chloe has benefitted from SISD’s emphasis on developing critical thinking, global awareness, and lifelong learning skills, all of which have prepared her to excel in her chosen field.

Chloe’s achievements highlight SISD’s exceptional guidance and university counselling services, which provide personalised support to students as they navigate their higher education journeys. This year alone, SISD’s graduating class has secured scholarships exceeding $4.31 million, underscoring the school’s reputation as a springboard for academic and professional success.

Chloe’s accomplishments also align with the celebration of International Day of Women and Girls in Science on February 11, inspiring future generations to pursue careers in STEM fields. This global initiative highlights the importance of gender equality in STEM fields and aims to encourage young women to break barriers in traditionally male-dominated disciplines.

Chloe’s hard work and success exemplifies the values of this day, showcasing how SISD’s inclusive and empowering educational environment fosters confidence and ambition in its female students. By celebrating achievements like Chloe’s, SISD reaffirms its commitment to nurturing the next generation of women scientists, leaders, and innovators.

And while research suggests women doctors provide higher quality care – spending more time with patients, closely following clinical guidelines, and delivering better surgical outcomes, they still earn less than their male counterparts.

Reflecting on her journey, Chloe expressed gratitude for the unwavering support she received from SISD’s dedicated staff and her university counsellor, Rhiana Courlander. “SISD has been instrumental in shaping my academic goals and supporting me every step of the way,” Chloe shared. “I am deeply grateful for the opportunities I’ve had as a student leader at SISD, from co-founding the medical society to spearheading a first aid certification initiative. These experiences have allowed me to contribute to the SISD community, make a meaningful impact, and prepare for my future in the medical field with a broader understanding. ”

Rhiana Courlander, University and Careers Guidance Counsellor at SISD, added: “Chloe is an exceptional student with a genuine passion for medicine. She not only excels academically but also has a strong drive to make a difference in our school community. Whether co-founding the medical society or leading first aid initiatives, she has demonstrated remarkable leadership, innovation, and a deep commitment to helping others. These experiences have prepared her well for medical school, and the univerity she chooses will be lucky to have her. It has been an absolute privilege to support her on this journey, and I have no doubt she will make a lasting impact in medicine.”

Located in Al Jadaf, Dubai, the award-winning IB curriculum school offers a unique multilingual education with a focus on sustainability and innovation, preparing students to thrive in our interconnected world. Through its comprehensive academic programmes and emphasis on personal growth, SISD empowers students to achieve excellence both within and beyond the classroom.
