During these times of social distancing and isolation, the University of Birmingham Dubai is keen to support business professionalsaround the world, regardless of whether they are part of the University of Birmingham family or not.
The University’s business engagement team has developed a series of online webinars to support businesses during the current COVID-19 pandemic, and the resulting economic impact.
Business Bites is a live webinar hosted on Wednesdays at 1pm by the University of Birmingham Dubai. Each fortnight will focus on a different industry, featuring a 20 – 30-minute interview with a business leader and a leading academic, sharing their plans and suggestions for business recovery post-COVID-19. This will provide the audience with a resource of tips, advice and opinions to help them develop their own business plans for the future.
The first event will focus on Business and will take place on Wednesday 20th May. Professor John Bryson, Professor of Enterprise and Economic Geography, University of Birmingham, and Sarah Bartlett, Director of KEKST CNC will lead the discussion onCovid-19 pandemic and precarious economies: Risk and value in existing business models and the change required for recovery.
The Construction industry will be the focus for Wednesday 3rd June, with Professor Ian Jefferson, Professor of Geotechnical Engineering, University of Birmingham, and Ian Maund, Regional Director for Quantum Global Solutions, discussingCovid-19 pandemic impact and challenges for recovery in the construction industry.
Wednesday 17th June will be a spotlight on the Education sector. How can schools best prepare for the new academic year in light of Covid-19? will be led by Colin Diamond CBE, Professor of Educational Leadership, University of Birmingham, and Ambika Gulati, Principal, The Millennium School Dubai.
Meanwhile, Wednesday 1st July will focus on Law, with David Holloway, Programme Director of International Commercial Law, University of Birmingham Dubai, and Stuart Walker, Partner at Afridi leading a session on Issues faced during the Covid-19 pandemic and the impact on the legal sector.
These sessions not only provide the audience with the tools and information to achieve their future business aspirations, but also give them a chance to ask questions and express their concerns in today’s climate of uncertainty.
