The University of Balamand Dubai (UOBD) has announced the launch of a new bachelor program in Psychology with the aim to fill the region’s skills gap in the expanding field of psychology and boost licensed practices in the face of the growing demand in the sector.
The Bachelor of Arts in Psychology fall semester 2020 program seeks to prepare professionals to understand the socio-cultural conditions of the modern world and will see the first cohort of students graduating in 2024, filling much-needed positions in a variety of sectors from education to human resource management to mental health services, among others.
Following a multi-disciplinary scientific vision, UOBD, through the program, will train students in different theoretical approaches to assessment, intervention and evidence-based models. The program is designed to stimulate and develop reflectiveness and critical thinking abilities in students by introducing comparative and integrative frameworks of psychology theory and practices.

Over the years, the subject of psychology has gained popularity with a growing demand from students across the world and we at UOBD want to support this young society representing various cultural dimensions. The structure of the new program incorporates aspects of psychology, biology, neurosciences, business and management. Our new program focuses on developing skills, equipping students to become competent to explore a diverse range of cognate disciplines and UOBD will no doubt be an excellent choice for students looking to pursue a psychology degree”, said Dr. JihadS. The faculty teaching the program are professionals at the forefront of research in psychology-related fields. UOBD offers impressive facilities for the study of psychology, with cutting-edge laboratories and wide-ranging library resources.
Developing a multidisciplinary approach to psychological knowledge, UOBD’s new accredited psychology program is designed to instill a strong understanding of research methodology, statistics and software, alongside the more general skills required of a psychologist, such as communication, cultural understanding and teamwork.
