Bright Learners Private School, a soon-to-launch American school in Al Rashidiya, Dubai set to open for the fall of 2020, has added Pre-Kindergarten to their grade levels, a new addition that will be supported with a learning environment that is relevant, engaging, rewarding, and positive for toddlers.
Initially set to open with grade levels from Kindergarten 1 to Grade 4 in September 2020, Bright Learners Private School now welcomes the enrollment of children starting from the age of three to join their newly-added Pre-Kindergarten program. The expansion of grade levels at Bright Learners Private School came with the intention to extend educational programs to younger pupils based on research showing that early childhood education programs have the ability to positively impact a child’s future. The curriculum within Pre-K will reflect the American Common Core Curriculum the school prides itself on, but will be molded to focus on developing various necessary skills the children require to successfully progress. BRIGANCE Early Learning Assessments will also be incorporated into the program and used as a diagnostic and performance assessment throughout the year within Pre-K. From this baseline, students will be given S.M.A.R.T targets (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Time Based) where teachers, parents and leaders will be able to monitor progress and put SMART targets in place. Tracking assessment performance and classroom performance through rigorous evaluation will enable the school to ensure that all ‘bright learners’ reach and surpass their potential.
The Pre-K curriculum will focus on six pillars of education; Social Skills, Cognitive and Language Skills, Mathematical Skills, Scientific Thinking, Arts, and Physical Skills. The Social Skills will further develop their ability to interact with their teachers and peers through various activities such as participation in group activities, learning to follow directions, developing independence and more. Within Cognitive and Language Skills, children will enhance their listening and speaking skills as well as pre-reading and writing abilities through conversing within group discussions and phonics skills and developing early writing skills using letters and letter-like symbols. The Mathematical skills will allow children to learn age-appropriate mathematical and problem-solving skills including counting and quantifying, basic understanding of addition and subtraction, and more. Scientific Thinking will encourage children to learn about their environment through observation, asking questions, and drawing conclusions through activities such as observing life cycles. Finally, children will gain appreciation for the arts by using art to express their imagination and creativity, incorporating music into their classroom routines, and exploring sensory and gross motor activities.
The Pre-K level will accommodate approximately 20 children per classroom, and will be the only grade level taught by a locally recruited staff. Allocated in a separate section of the school, Pre-K will have 4 classrooms, a clinic shared with elementary, a library which is integrated with a designated iPad suite, two ICT rooms, one music room, an art room, two Arabic classrooms, and two splash pools. For increased safety, the building will be fitted with push bar locks. The tuition for Pre-K will be offered at AED 21,000, making Bright Learners Private School one of the most affordable private schools in Dubai, making it accessible to everyone.
